MAIN CHARACTERS
Bernard Marx
Bernard Marx is an Alpha from the new world but is very different from other Alphas. He is shorter than most Alphas which makes it difficult for him to be a leader. He also has different views on aspects of society. These differences cause him to not fit in with the new world society.
John
John- Is from the savage reservation where people who are not civilized live. John is the son of the Director and Linda and is not welcomed in the savage reservation because he is different. He also struggles to fit in the new world society when he is brought there because he doesn't agree with the new world society's values.
The Director
The Director oversees the Hatchery and Conditioning Center. He unknowingly had a child with Linda. His child ended up being John, the savage from the reservation. He finds out that he is the father of John when John comes to the new world after leaving the reservation with Bernard and his mother Linda. This scandal causes the Director to resign from the Hatchery and Conditioning Center.
Linda
Linda- Is John's mother who was lost when she went on a hike near savage reservation with the Director. She had John and raised him in the reservation. She wants to go back to the new world so she can take soma and forget all of her sufferings. However, she does not fit in the new world because she has a child and looks much different than the others in the new world.
Helmholtz Watson
Helmholtz Watson- Is an Alpha but does not agree with some of the things that happen in the new world society. He becomes a friend to Bernard because they both have common beliefs about the new world.
Mustapha Mond
Mustapha Mond- Is the controller of all of Western Europe. He monitors discoveries that people make in science and he also has the ability to ban people from the new world if the person has radical beliefs.
Lenina
Lenina- Works at the Hatchery and Conditioning Center. She is attracted to Bernard in the beginning of the novel and then she is attracted to John when he arrives from the savage reservation. She does not understand the values that John has and does not know why he won’t accept her.
